Claire Tremblay and Eveline Canape to lead Québec’s largest franchise network in the fitness center industry

Boucherville, Québec, November 9, 2016 – Women entrepreneurs Claire Tremblay and Eveline Canape announced today their acquisition of Énergie Cardio. As a result, they will be at the helm of Québec’s biggest franchise network of fitness centers, founded by Alain Beaudry in St-Jérôme, in 1985. This network features over 40 modern, high-quality fitness centers and boasts nearly 1,200 employees.

The new owners already have an in-depth understanding of the company. Claire Tremblay, Énergie Cardio’s new President, is a trained kinesiologist, business coach and owner of three Énergie Cardio franchises on Montréal’s South Shore for the past 20 years. Eveline Canape, the network’s new Vice-President, is a physical educator that has held the positions of Director, Business Development at Énergie Cardio, Director of Operations at GoodLife Fitness, as well as President and CEO of Carrefour Multisports over the past 20 years. They are currently planning to open a new head office north of Montréal.

“Our priority will be to ensure that our members across Québec continue to enjoy motivating fitness training experiences in the spirit of our core values, namely self-improvement, fun, sharing and respect,” said Claire Tremblay, Énergie Cardio’s new President.

“According to surveys conducted by an independent evaluation firm, our members’ level of satisfaction toward their client experience exceeds 90%. This figure climbs to nearly 95% when members rate their experience with our personal trainers.

It therefore comes as no surprise that our members put in a collective total of over 8 million hours of fitness training at our gyms every year! It’s incredibly motivating to contribute to their physical and mental well-being, and the reason we keep encouraging more and more Québecers to include fitness training in their day-to-day lives.”

“Selling a company we founded is no small feat,” explained Alain Beaudry, founder of Entreprises Énergie Cardio. “The other shareholders and I had to make sure the new owners share our values and strive for excellence, as we have done for the past three decades. Moreover, we are particularly pleased that the ownership is being passed on to two talented leaders that already boast considerable experience within the company.”

“Over the past 31 years, Énergie Cardio has stood out through constant innovation, thanks in large part to the commitment and professionalism shown by our franchisees and staff,” said Eveline Canape, Énergie Cardio’s new Vice-President. “We’re renowned for always being ahead of the curve. That’s why we provide cutting-edge equipment, stimulating and varied group classes that meet all fitness needs and goals. Our modern and inspiring facilities motivate members to work hard and push their limits. All of this enables us to provide a quality experience to our clients aged 16 to over 80, and bring out the athlete in each of us.”

Over the last few years, Énergie Cardio has benefitted from the commitment of its spokesperson, physical educator Josée Lavigueur, as well as Isabelle Huot, Doctor of Nutrition and spokesperson for the Kilo Cardio weight loss program, developed exclusively with Énergie Cardio. These collaborations with two exceptional partners will continue to inspire, inform and educate Énergie Cardio members and all Québecers.
