Chick-fil-A® to Open New Restaurants in Kitchener and Toronto, Continuing Canadian Expansion
TORONTO (Feb. 22, 2021) — Chick-fil-A is excited to announce that Kitchener, Ont. and the Toronto communities of Scarborough and Queen Street West have been selected as the locations of its three newest restaurants as part of the company’s Canadian expansion plans. Chick-fil-A Kitchener® will be located at 200-225 Fairway Rd. S.; Chick-fil-A Scarborough® will be located in the Scarborough Town Centre, upper level food court, near entrance 4; and Chick-fil-A Queen & Spadina® will be located at 336 Queen St. W. The restaurants will open for business later this year and will create approximately 200-250 full- and part-time job opportunities. The company has plans to open an additional 20 restaurant locations in the country by 2025.
“We’re thrilled to continue growing in Canada by opening restaurants in Kitchener and Toronto. During these times, we're grateful for the positive response we continue to receive from our Canadian customers and we are honoured to serve our new communities great-tasting food made with high-quality ingredients,” said Anita Costello, executive vice president of International at Chick-fil-A Inc. “Like our first two locations, each restaurant will be locally owned and operated. The success of our business is built on local owner/operators who truly care about their restaurant and the community they serve.”
As with all Chick-fil-A Operators, they shape their restaurant from the front line every day. Their responsibilities include restaurant management, staff mentorship and creating opportunities to serve the community. Team Members receive competitive wages and are eligible to participate in training and leadership opportunities, as well as scholarship programs.
For every new restaurant opening in Canada, Chick-fil-A, Inc. will donate C$25,000 to a local food bank located near the new Chick-fil-A restaurant. In addition to these donations, Chick-fil-A restaurants will help alleviate hunger and reduce food waste through Chick-fil-A's Shared Table program. This initiative redirects surplus food from restaurants to local soup kitchens, shelters and non-profits in need. Chick-fil-A has partnered with Second Harvest, Canada’s largest food rescue organization, to support individuals experiencing food insecurity in Toronto and across Canada. Together they delivered 22 million pounds of food to Torontonians in need in 2020, while also reducing the environmental impact of food waste.
Today, there are two Chick-fil-A restaurants in Toronto: Chick-fil-A Yonge & Bloor® and Chick-fil-A Yorkdale Mall®.
