It is with great pride that A&W Food Services of Canada Inc. announces the official opening of its 100th restaurant in Quebec: its fourth urban location in downtown Montreal, located at 1200, Sainte-Catherine Street East. Thrilled by its rapid growth the iconic hamburger chain plans to expand further across the province.

"We are extremely pleased to be opening our 100th location in the province, especially since it will be followed by approximately 10 new restaurant openings during the year," said Susan Senecal, Chief Marketing Officer, A&W Food Services of Canada Inc. "A&W's remarkable growth in Quebec undoubtedly stems from a solid development plan, combined with the entrepreneurial spirit of local Quebeckers seeking to achieve their business goals with our chain. A&W offers unique and profitable business opportunities to Quebec-based entrepreneurs who wish to contribute to the success of the second largest hamburger chain in Quebec and Canada."

Passionate franchisees and the urban concept at the heart of A&W's growth in Quebec. A&W looks forward to welcoming the Malek-Warda family to its franchise team. Mr. Roger Malek-Warda has joined this project along with his sons, Elie and Johnny. "My family and I are excited to join the A&W team as franchisees and contribute to the growth of a proven brand. We are confident that hamburger fans will be lining up!" said Elie Malek-Warda, Operations Manager of Quebec's 100th restaurant.

The success of A&W restaurants stems as much from the chain's rapid growth across the province as the launch of the urban concept, which continues to gain traction. Indeed, construction of a 5th location of this type is already underway in Montreal.

This new concept in the quick service industry, a more modern version of the classic A&W restaurant, meets the needs of city dwellers that live, work or study near their favourite restaurant. Along with a more contemporary decor, several seating options and a patio, the urban restaurant offers its customers a selection of background music that varies throughout the day. Furthermore, it offers greater convenience through self-service stations and free wireless Internet.

A&W rewarded

On January 21, A&W was awarded the Maillon d'or in the Innovation: Product / Concept / Service category by the Conseil québécois de la franchise. As the urban concept certainly contributes to A&W growth in Quebec, it is a real honour to have received this award.

A&W currently boasts:

774 restaurants across Canada
100 restaurants across Quebec
Nearly 50 restaurants in the Greater Montreal area
