Pizza Pizza and Pizza 73, the leading purveyor of pizzas in Canada, are slicing its prices on select pizzas while giving children and their families another reason to smile. From April 22 to May 5, customers of traditional Pizza Pizza and Pizza 73 locations in Ontario, Alberta, Quebec, Manitoba, Nova Scotia, British Columbia and Saskatchewan can purchase designated pizzas at reduced prices with a portion of the proceeds going to 14 hospitals that are members of Children’s Miracle Network.

Customers of Pizza Pizza can enjoy a 10-inch half pizza topped with a pepperoni smile for $2 as well as a medium cheese or pepperoni pizza for only $4.99. Pizza 73 customers can enjoy a 9” pepperoni smile pizza for only $4.99. Monies raised through the Slices for Smiles program stay in the community, benefitting the children’s hospital closest to the participating restaurant.

“Life’s not always as simple as ‘pie’; many children and families face immense challenges,” said Pat Finelli, Chief Marketing Officer for Pizza Pizza and Pizza 73. “We are thankful for the ability to contribute and bring smiles to children through our work with Children’s Miracle Network and their member hospitals.”

A campaign that originated with a simple smile has now evolved into an incorporated foundation, the Slices for Smiles Foundation. The semi-annual program has raised more than $1 million in just under six years.

“All of that ‘dough’ will stay local,” said John Hartman, Chief Operating Officer at Children’s Miracle Network. “Knowing that the funds will stay in your community and are allocated to the highest priority needs at the local children’s hospitals is the model of Children’s Miracle Network. Franchisees and customers who support this initiative are the true heroes.” Children’s Miracle Network and its member hospitals are urging companies and local organizations to hold pizza lunches, pizza parties and other group activities to benefit from the discounts and contribute to quality health services for Canadian youth through the country’s leading children’s hospitals.

In addition to buying the discounted menu items, customers can support the fundraiser by purchasing a smile coupon, available at Pizza Pizza restaurants for $1, or by topping their telephone, online or mobile orders with a donation. Both Pizza Pizza and Pizza 73 have a growing online and mobile business that makes it easy to order, and donate, as part of the program.

“Reaching the million-dollar milestone in 2012 has been a source of added motivation for all of us,” said Hartman. “Pizza lovers unite so that we can raise the next million even faster!”

About Children’s Miracle Network

Children’s Miracle Network raises funds for 170 children’s hospitals, 14 of which are in Canada. These hospitals, in turn, use the money where it’s needed the most. When a donation is given, it stays in the community, ensuring that every dollar is helping local kids. These donations fund critical research, purchase life-saving equipment, and ensure excellence in care, all in support of our mission to save and improve the lives of as many children as possible.
