Pizza Pizza has a network of more than 700 locations coast to coast.

TORONTO, ON, January 20, 2014 - Foodservice and Hospitality, Canada´s hospitality business magazine, has awarded Pizza Pizza Limited the prestigious Pinnacle Award for 2013 Company of the Year. The Canadian-based restaurant chain, which operates the successful Pizza Pizza and Pizza 73 banners across the country, was recognized at a year-end award ceremony hosted by Kostuch Media Limited, publishers of the magazine and organizers of the annual awards ceremony.

Pizza Pizza Limited earned the marquee award, in part, due to the success of its campaign for organic growth, which has in the past six years alone resulted in the opening of 20 restaurants in Quebec, nine in Manitoba, three in Saskatchewan and four in Nova Scotia. Today, including Pizza 73 restaurants and non-traditional sites, Pizza Pizza enjoys a network of more than 700 locations coast to coast. The company also impressed judges with its roster of product innovations, technological advancements, marketing and the support it provides to the communities it serves, as well as its franchise partners and their staff.

“The entire team is honoured by this recognition especially since it comes from our own industry,” said Pat Finelli, Chief Marketing Officer for Pizza Pizza Limited. “We work hard to lead our segment and to support the growth of our entire network and the communities we serve; that includes our franchisees, suppliers, sports teams and community events that we sponsor, as well as our customers.”

Some of Pizza Pizza Limited´s recent innovations include:

o Hybrid loyalty and gift card all-in-one (Pizza Pizza)

o Mobile apps for Pizza Pizza customers on Android, iPad and iPhone / Pizza 73 iPhone app. In 2011, Pizza Pizza won a Webby award just one month after the launch of its mobile ordering app for iPhone.

o Expanding its Devices for Slices Earth Month campaign, which collects unwanted electronics to raise funds for Food Banks Canada, recycling over 8,400 devices to date (Pizza Pizza)

o Introducing a line of gourmet Frescos, a ultra-thin 10? pizza prepared on a whole wheat crust that comes in 12 different recipes (Pizza Pizza)

o Over $1.5 million dollars raised for children´s charities through its Slices for Smiles Foundation

o New flavour profiles, such as Buffalo chicken wings and pizza (Pizza Pizza)

o Addition of Italian sandwiches, a fresh take on a classic favourite (Pizza Pizza)

o Chili and poutine launch (Pizza Pizza and Pizza 73)

o Gluten-free pizzas (Pizza Pizza and Pizza 73)
